Anja Rubik, Anjarubik, model anja rubik,Model Anja Rubik’s name might not resonate as much as Kate Moss, Lara Stone or Giselle, but she’s one of the most in demand models in the world. Signed to Next Model Management, Anja has blazed a trail across leading fashion magazines including Vogue, Numero, and Harper’s Bazaar, appeared in campaigns for Chloé, Giorgio Armani cosmetics, Jimmy Choo and Versace, and walked in New York, Paris, Milan and London fashion weeks for everyone from Alexander Wang to Ralph Lauren.

And like most models of the current generation she hasn’t shied away from shooting nude, including a famous nude Pirelli appearance shot by Karl Lagerfeld. Though Anja did controversially refuse to shoot with photographer Terry Richardson for Pirelli the previous year.

Profile and Biography of Anja Rubik:

Anja was born in Poland, but grew up in Greece, Canada, South Africa and Paris. Born in 1983, Anja is 28 years of age. She started modeling after finishing high school.

Anja Rubik, Anjarubik, model anja rubik,Her career took off in 2005, when she was named one of Style.coms Top Ten Models. She quickly began to appear in major fashion magazines including French and German Vogue. Major campaigns later followed with H&M, GAP Gucci and Christian Dior.

One of Anja’s trademarks was her long, silken blonde hair, and she raised many eyebrows in 2007 when she cut it short. Career-wise, “It was the bravest thing I ever did,” she says.

Italian Muse magazine summed up her appeal:

“…Anja Rubik interprets a more enigmatic character. Not completely absorbed by fashion world, she continues to study and paint as a hobby. Delicate and aristocratic, her smooth mermaid-like body and the blond light she sheds seems almost colorless at first glance, but able to reveal an unexpected potential to an expert eye, like a sort of white canvas, repository of social desires: this is what had made her into an icon.”

Anja’s weight and size has at times raised eyebrows and questions as regards her diet. Rubik has disclosed that her secret diet tip is vegetable smoothies, to which says she is “addicted”.

As regards modeling, Anja says:

“I believe modeling is a combination of natural talent, the ability to adapt to different situations, hard work and most importantly luck. There are so many beautiful girls in this business that in order to be noticed you need to find yourself in the right place at the right time. I have always dreamed of working for the best magazines and with the best photographers and designers. “

Rubik married her longterm boyfriend, Serbian model Sasha Knezevic, in 2011.

Basically the jist of it is the public send in videos of themselves doing something that is typically Irish, and these will make up the show.

John Rocha, Philip Treacy, Paul Costelloe, Peter O’Brien, Mia O’Connell, Emma Manley & Eilis Boyle were just some of those shortlisted for Ireland’s Most Influential Designer 2010.

There are also quite a number of designers in their twenties on the shortlist, which is a testament to the vibrancy of the industry despite harder times for fashion, not just in Ireland, but globally.

There is of course one glaring omission: Ciaran Sweeney.

So now I have my own mannequin. Rootstein make mannequins that appear in the world’s major fashion houses, department stores and boutiques. For over 50 years they’ve been basing their models on what they see as the emerging faces and bodies of the industry. Many moons ago they plucked Twiggy from obscurity, more recently their mannequins have been exact body doubles of Erin O’Connor, Agyness Deyn, and of course, in 2008, Coco Rocha!
